A brisk flat linear walk which is on paved pathways or pavement throughout suitable for trainers and avoids mud. We start at Custom House for Excel Elizabeth Line/DLR and in a roundabout way head for Custom House in the City of London just by Monument Bank Station. We head off East, oddly, but that’s because after passing Newham City Farm, we soon pick up the Capital Ring and head towards the Greenway which takes us to Stratford. Our only climb is over the A13 where we get a distant view of the scenic Beckton Alps. From the foot of the Olympic Park we head to Victoria Park, then onto the Regent Canal, Limehouse Basin, Cable Street, Shadwell Basin and pass along the front of the Tower of London to Reach Custom House on Lower Thames Street.
We meet outside Starbucks on the walkway from the station at Custom House leading to the ExCel London. Use the WC there as there are no toilets until lunch. Bring a picnic which we will either take at the View Tube Cafe on the Greenway or at the Pavilion Cafe in Victoria Park depending on timing.
There are numerous public transport options if anyone wants to drop out along the route.
No booking required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
