This is a pretty and varied walk, starting along the Swiss Valley towards Llanelli and taking in the grand designs of the House and surrounding parkland of Parc Howard. it's a good walk even in wet conditions as paths are mainly level and dry even after substantial rainfall.
We start in woodland and catch tempting glimpses of the reservoir and its gushing outfall before joining an broad tarmac path where rural and urban scenery line the route.
Before reaching Furness we leave the path for a saunter through Parc Howard where we can see the grand Italianate mansion and surrounding parkland. We'll stop here for refreshments and to use the facilities.
The next part of the walk joins St. Illtyd's Way part of a 103 mile long distance path from Pembray to Margam Park. The short section included in our walk presents some lovely views over the valley and surrounding hills.
Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended as although the path is mainly dry surfaced there are short sections crossing fields where it can be slippery.
We will stop for refreshments. Its a good idea to bring your own drinks and snacks. This a fairly easy walk and we should be back before lunch.
