This walk is mainly flat on paths, tracks and tarmac. There are some muddy sections so good footwear, preferrably waterproof boots, is required.
Starting from Easterhouse Train Station the route heads North then quickly turns East towards Bargeddie, to Monkland Canal and into Drumpellier Park for a refreshment stop/toilet break. Heading from there to Commonhead Moss, past Bishop Loch and Provan Hall before returning to the station via Blairtummock Park.
Registration for this walk opens two weeks in advance of the walk (i.e 9th April). Please remember to include a mobile number when you sign up.
The leader will meet walkers on Platform 2 (Eastbound) at Easterhouse Railway Station at 10:00am (or arrival of 9:40 to Edinburgh from Queen Street.)
The walk includes muddy or wet woodland trails, firm tarmac paths and several road crossings.
Refreshments, water top-up and toilets are available at Drumpellier Visitor Centre, just before half way.
An optional detour (10 mins) is available allowing views of Woodend Loch, one of seven lochs in the park which is not normally easy to find access to.
Additional toilets are available towards the end of the walk at Glasgow Fort (Provan Hall, McDonalds, Morrison's, Sports Centre) and at the Bridge Bar near the finishing point.
A walk report on WalkHighlands is from a different starting point but gives lots of information about points of interest on this walk.
