Overview

The Magnificent 11 is a four-part cicular walk of 11 miles linking seven wonderful greenspace habitats on Glasgow's Southside. Parts 1 and 2 links three city parks, Linn Park, Kings Park and Castlemilk Park. Part three rises through a new park in Fernbrae Meadows (in South Lanarkshire) to Cathkin Braes. Glasgow's largest and finest greenspace, with woodland, heath, wild grassland and bird reserve marshes. There are panoramic views north across the city to the hills and mountains beyond. Part 4 drops down through conservation farmlands and past Carmunnock into the Cart and Kittoch valleys woodland by the White Cart Water to return to Linn Park.

Extended sections of this route can be very muddy. Boots are essential, gaiters and poles recommended.

Meet at the entrance to Linn Park on Clarkston Road near Netherlee Rd where the walk will begin at 10:30am Bus services 4a, 374 and 6 pass by the park and Muirend train station is a 12 minute walk away.
