This walk will begin at Falkirk High Station where we then join the path alongside the canal towards the Falkirk Wheel, a distance of 2.5 miles. At the Wheel there is a cafe/information centre/toilets etc. There are plenty of picnic tables to have our "pieces" or you could choose to eat in the cafe! We can have a walk around the area to catch the Wheel in motion if we are lucky! We shall then make our way back along the canal to Falkirk High Station (2.5miles). An easy flat walk, but interesting and with fantastic views in the distance if a clear day. There is a short tunnel just before the Wheel but it is well lit and you can see the end!! In total an easy 5 mile walk!
Meet at Queen Street station, outside the ticket office at 10.a.m., having bought a cheap day return to Falkirk High (around £10 with a Railcard and £15 without - check from your local station for a through ticket or cheapest option), used "facilities" (there are no toilets at Falkirk High so its the station or on the train)/bought coffee/snacks etc.Our train is at 10.15 and is only 20 mins to Falkirk High. Return trains are every 15mins, aiming for either 14.45 or 15.14.
