Area Sunday Strenuous Walk. Distances are generally over 10 miles
In our summer programme of walks in 2023 the Area is visiting 8 of the 9 highest peaks in the Peak District over 3 different walks. This, the second walk, takes in Kinder Low (636m), Grindslow Knoll (601m), Brown Knoll (569m) and Lord's Seat (550m), the 1st, 4th, 6th & 9th highest. There is a steep climb early in the walk, after that height is maintained with only a couple more short ascents but the terrain over Kinder Plateau can be challenging, especially in poor weather, as the boggy top is crossed. The descent into Edale is steep but offers the last of many fine views that should be enjoyed throughout the walk.
