Overview

Meet in The Square, Elham.

This is a figure of 8 walk – you can join us for all of it or for either the morning or the afternoon. (7 miles in the morning and 4.5 miles in the afternoon).

The walk starts near to the Rose and Crown bus stop in Elham, which is served by the number 17 bus between Folkestone and Canterbury - though please check times. Public toilets are available in Elhamat the start and end of the walk and at lunchtime.

In the morning, we will head along the Elham Valley Way to North Elham, then climb Hall Downs where we will have views across and along the Valley, then via Oxroad and Wingate Farms we’ll follow a bridleway to Breach before crossing the Valley road and taking a gently climbing path through woods to reach Bladbean. We’ll return to Elham in time for a lunch stop just after 13.00.

In the afternoon, we’ll leave again from The Square at 14.00 for a two hour walk out of the Valley to Tye Wood, then via part of Rhodes Minnis, Exted and Park Gate before coming back down into Elham via the playing fields.

Both walks are a little hilly, but we’ll be rewarded with great views.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but please note that we may encounter livestock along the way and there will be stiles which may not be dog friendly – so you may have to lift your dog over them.
