Overview

This figure of eight walk gives you two options: a 10-mile ramble or a shorter 5-mile stroll. The early walkers start from Swanpool, Falmouth at 10 o’clock, walking along fields and woodlands to the beach at Maenporth for a rest break.

Those wanting a later start and shorter walk can meet the early starters at Maenporth carpark at 11:30. The combined group will then walk along the coast  to Rosemullion Head with spectacular coastal views, before turning into the Helford Passage and majestic woods to Mawnan Smith. The route proceeds along a woodland valley back to Maenporth. Saying au revoir to our companions,  the longer walkers follow the coast path back to Swanpool.

Proceeding through the allotments we take footpaths past the Tregedna Farm camp site and across a new wood walkway towards Rosemerryn House, where we turn and drop down to Maenporth for a rest break and where we join those walkers wanting a shorter walk.

Following a rest break we now climb the up onto the headland with fine views over Falmouth bay, the castle and St Anthony’s Head. Proceeding along the coast path we head for the promontory fort at Rosemullion Head and the magical Glebe Woods below the church of St Mawnan.

We round Toll Point into the Helford Passage and drop down to Saxon Beach and Glebe Beach. From Glebe Beach we ascending the gentle valley of the enchanting Carwinion Woods. The woodland path brings us to the edge of Mawnan Smith. We will then head eastwards across fields before dropping into a woodland valley heading back to Maenporth. Those electing for the shorter walk can then regain the comfort of their cars while the remaining walkers take the coastal footpath back to Swanpool.

Please remember lunch and a drink. Sturdy footwear required as some paths are slippery and muddy.
