This is section 1 of the Green Link Walk, London's newest walking route, which runs from Epping Forest to Peckham through four boroughs: Waltham Forest, Hackney, Islington and Southwark - and the City of London. It links almost 40 acres of green space and a number of waterways.
We will start at Snaresbrook tube station from where we'll walk through the edge of Epping Forest to the start of Section 1 at St Peter-in-the Forest Church. We pass through Walthamstow Village, Central Walthamstow and Walthamstow Wetlands where we will stop for lunch at the London Wildlife Centre's Engine Room. Here we'll have a picnic lunch - there's a cafe and toilets at the lunch stop. After lunch we finish the walk by following the riverside paths along the River Lea and then to Lea Bridge Station.
The walk is mostly along footpaths and tarmac but expect muddy sections in Epping Forest and along the River Lee riverside paths.
There are dropout spots along the way at a number of stations, including Walthamstow Station with its underground/overground, and bus stops.
