Overview

From the parking area we take a footpath to a tunnel under the A591. We continue on the footpath through fields, over the Railway bridge to Winters Lane. We then take the footpath to the bank of the River Kent. We follow the river for a while before taking a bridge across and starting a fairly steady ascent. We head north, past Ghyll Pond and close to Potters Tarn before turning east to Gurnal Dubs Tarn. We do a loop around the tarn before briefly retracing our steps and passing closer around Potters Tarn. Heading west we descend to Staveley (crossing the River Kent again) after a short walk up the High Street, we pick up the Dales Way Footpath. At a T-junction we turn left and follow the path south-west, this path crosses a minor road and becomes Ashes lane, which takes us back to the parking area.
