This 5.6-mile circular walk takes us through the attractive rolling countryside to the north-east of Newbury. We set off in a northerly direction from Hampstead Norreys Village Hall before turning WNW and heading for Ramsworth Cottages and Banterwick Farm. After a couple of miles we then turn south, eventually reaching the small settlement of Bothampstead, before passing Trumpletts Farm on our way down to the B4009 at Hatchgate Bungalows. The last bit of the walk takes us along the Eling Way, which follows the line of the old Newbury to Didcot railway. There are a couple of steady climbs, one near the start of the walk and the other shortly after the mid-walk break.
Conditions underfoot should be fine as we shall be using firm tracks, quiet country lanes and paths with very little mud around at the time of the recce, but please be aware of the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly, with sturdy footwear. There are no stiles on this walk, but there is a flight of steps with a handrail as we leave Hampstead Norreys. Please bring refreshments for the mid-walk break, and if you'd like to join us, please click on the link to book your place before 6.00 pm on Monday 06 April.
