Overview

We park up next to the Holden Arms, from where our leaders today could take you north onto Oswaldtwistle Moor, south to Holcombe Moor, or anywhere in between. With the Rossendale Way wreathing its way across the area access is made easy, both to the highs ans lows of the West Pennine Moors.

Tree walks will be on offer, with full details circulated on the coach. They will range from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.

A Walk Leader - Dave Trembath - 10.5 miles with 1800ft of total ascent. Heading up towards Haslingden Moor we go above the Ogden and Holden Wood Reservoirs and onto the Rossendale Way. Then on to the high point of Hog Lowe Pike, and rejoin the Rossendale Way for the return to Haslingden.

B Walk Leader - Cathy Collins

C Walk Leader - Isobel Calquhaun - Around 6 miles with 700ft of ascent. From the Holden Arms we head east to join the bed  of the old railway line south towards Bridge End. Then head for the village of Irwell Vale, climb up past Raven Shore to Sunny Bank Cottages, before turning north to the dam of Holden Wood Reservoir.
