Overview

Meet at Hermitage Village Hall car park.  We start towards little Hungerford, cross the Yattendon road and pass Windmill Farm.  We head South towards Wellhouse and cross the Marlston Road to Round Hill wood making our way to Grimsbury Castle, passing some of the associated earthworks.  The walk then proceeds past the Fox Pub in Hermiatge and on into Roebuck Wood.  We head to Doctors Lane and on to the Hamlet of Oare, before returning to Hermitage village Hall.

The walk is largely wooded with lots of fallen leaves hiding tree roots and other trip hazards.  It will be quite muddy in places and there will be some steepish inclines both up and down.  Please bring a snack and a drink for a mid morning break.  There is no limit on the number of wakers, but please book the walk by 6pm the preceeding day of the walk.
