This is a figure of eight route. We cross the road on a track leading to a farm and on to paths and rough moorland towards the nearest wind turbine. After this we head for a short climb to the iron age hill fort of Dunwan with good open views. We drop down to a burn and follow markers which lead us back to the farm and the road.
Back across the road we have a short but steep climb to the cairn of Ballageich Hill, this is the high point of the walk and views of Glasgow can be seen in the distance.
We then follow a route passing 2 lochs and climbing Rieve Hill to reach the cairn and back to the cars .This walk encompasses 2 lochs and 5 hills which are all around 300m in height.
Boots, poles and gaiters are all required. There are a couple of fences and a burn to negotiate. There is no road walking but care must be taken while crossing B764.
