Summary. This circular route takes us both sides of the B4371 Church Stretton- Much Wenlock road. The northern part is across open hill country and then woodland. The southern section is mostly across farmland.
We will start from Hope Bowdler village and make our way up to the Gaer Stone and then along the ridge of Hope Bowdler Hill. This is a steepish ascent but we will take it steady. There should be fantastic views over Church Stretton to the Long Mynd and of Caer Caradoc and the Lawley. We will then continue to Willstone Hill and the Battle Stones. From there we will head south east to Middle Hill, down to Gutter Farm and along to Wood Gate Farm where we will cross the B4371 (care needed). The woodland paths down to Gutter Farm and along the Gutter are narrow and could be slippery if wet. Poles advised.
South of the B4371 we will go up on to Flirt Hill and walk through fields along the top of Yelds Bank. Hopefully there will be good views back to Hope Bowdler Hill to the north and Wenlock Edge and the Clee Hills to the south. We will then make our way towards Ticklerton and back to Hope Bowdler via Chelmick valley.
Parking will be at Hope Bowdler village hall. Donation please of £1 or £2 per car which I will collect up and then hand over or do a BACS transfer.
This is a fairly large car park but we have been asked to park tidily because there will be 6 or so more cars arriving at 2pm for an event in the hall.
Car sharing encouraged from Meole Brace P & R. Please arrange this yourselves if possible, maybe via WhatsApp. If anyone needs a lift and doesn't have a contact, please message me and I'll ask around.
