Overview

This walk replaces the earlier scheduled walk on the same day from Dolgellau due to route blockage by forestry work and lack of booking due to distance. Starting at the top of the Horseshoe Pass we climb the three peaks of the Llantysilio Mountain range along well used tracks but with some steep slopes to enjoy distant views over the Vale of Clwyd. We then drop down to the valley with views across the river Dee to the imposing hills rising along the sides of the Vale of LLangollen. From here we make our way along the valley and then take the steady climb along the miners track towards Berwyn Quarry. Dropping again through woodland before climbing the valley side with views back to LLangollen and on to the Ponderosa. Tracks are generally good and well defined but there are some steep slopes with loose shale. Last walked by 11 members, including two more moderate walkers, in May 2024. 3400 ft asc. Tel 07751 932071. Dogs on 2m leash. Full Day. Bring lunch and adequate liquids. Booking is essential and opens from 05/08/2025. Book using https://nmc-ramblers.org.uk/ or click link below.
