Meet in Portland Road car park (height restriction) free at this time of year - by The Green, Hythe behind the former Duke’s Head pub. Alternatively, park free nearby along A259 Dymchurch Road/ Military Road on either side of the Military Canal.
The start point is close to the Red Lion Square bus stops served by buses from Folkestone, Dymchurch, Canterbury and Ashford.
Our walk starts alongside the Royal Military Canal and the old town of Hythe. We’ll then climb gently to pass the historic Saltwood Castle and Church of St Peter and St Paul . We’ll continue alongside the course of the old Sandgate railway before turning off to reach Brockhill Country Park where we’ll have a short stop (refreshments available at the cafe or bring your own, there are also toilets here.) Our return will be via country paths and then a series of footpaths through Saltwood and Hythe.
There are some stiles and we may encounter livestock. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome but the stiles may not be dog-friendly.
Expected return time is around 13.00.
There are lots of refreshment opportunities and public toilets in Hythe.
