From the beautiful setting of Ilam set in a bend of the Manifold River, this walk goes up past Castern Hall before crossing the Manifold and returning by way of Throwley Hall.

The walk starts from the National trust car park of Ilam Hall. This is free to NT members otherwise £7 (from July 2023) payable in coins; there is free roadside parking in Ilam village near the gates to Ilam Hall. There are toilets and a cafe at Ilam Hall.
