Approximately 3 miles, easy, no stiles, mostly flat but some up and down through Middle Wood (total about 40 m or 130 feet), and steps down to, and up from, Middlewood Way.
We start off with a stroll through Jackson’s Brickworks Nature Reserve. Hopefully there will still be some flowers and butterflies in September. We then walk north for a short way along the Middlewood Way, and head east through Middle Wood. We will take the ascent through the woods as slowly as necessary. We then descend to the Macclesfield Canal. Coffee break on the canal, then southwards and pass the Marina near Lyme Road. Stop at the outdoor café (Bailey’s Trading Post) if anyone wants another coffee. Toilets at Nelson Pit car park. We then join the Middlewood Way, and head north to the starting point. Dogs welcome, on short lead at all times.
