Overview

We catch the 0809 train from Plymouth to Penzance arriving 1012.  It’s the cheapest train that morning.  Timetables may vary so please check this site nearer the time in case the time has changed.  This train also stops at Devonport, Dockyard, Keyham, St Budeaux Ferry Road, Saltash and others.

We start the route heading to Gulval Trevarrick and on to St Michaels Way.  (We are avoiding Marazion Marshes and the two fast traffic  main road crossings by taking the alternate route through Gulval).

Our route takes us across Cornwall to Trencrom Hill Fort and on to Carbis Bay and St Ives.

Once at St Ives, there are lots of options for Fish and Chips or Ice Cream or a beer or two - It’s up to you.

Trains back to Plymouth from St Ives are frequent, approx every half hour.

Train Fare 08:09 to Penzance from Plymouth £5.50 and £5-£14 on return from St Ives (2 trains every hour).  Cheaper with a Rail Card or on a Group ticket.
