The walk will set off from Largs Railway Station after the arrival of the service coming up from Kilwinning at 10.16 reaching Largs at 10.43.
The 585 bus arrives quite significantly early (09.56) as it is only once every two hours.
Parking for cars can be "on street" in Charles Street or in the esplanade car park for a modest charge.
The route is from the station along the promenade to Aubery Park and then onto the old High Rd to Skelmorlie. Leaving the road, we ascend on moorland tracks to reach the summit of the "Knock" at about 600 feet. Our decent skirts the golf course, and we return into Largs. Ice cream, teas, coffees, and other refreshments as well as food will be available from various vendors along the return route.
The walk leader is Mike McGuire. Please contact him with any questions on 07598259607
Risk Assessment draws attention to the part of the route on the shared active travel route which instructs cars to moderate their speed, but which requires vigilance at all times.
The moorland track can be saturated and gaiters could be useful if there is significant rain in the preceding days.
