Overview

Starting in Lambourn, we follow The Lambourn Valley way past Bockhampton Manor and the site of the medieval village to the modern ? villages of Eastbury and East Garston. We now head up over the downs to Gold Hill and House Hill, where we should get some good views over the downs if the weather is kind to us. Through Great Park Wood to Woodlands St Mary, back up to the downs past Burgess Farm to Berrys Wood (we may see the Anthony Gormley statue in the grounds of Rooksnest), across to Lambourn Woodlands and over to Dances Cottage. We return via Hungerford Gap.

The walk is undulating and could be muddy and slippery in places. Most of the walk is in the open, so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the prevailing weather.

Please use the car park off High street, which has a narrow turning past Goodies cafe and before the Yellow building. The parking sign has been twisted and points in the wrong direction. At present the car park is free but there is a covered sign with parking charges. If they have been rolled out, the cost is £2 for over 4 hours. This can get busy. If parking elsewhere in the village, please meet here for the start of the walk
