Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Levenshulme railway station.

Transport to Walk Start: 11:49 train from Manchester Piccadilly

Suggested Ticket: Levenshulme Off Peak Return £4.60

Walk Start: Levenshulme Railway Station at 12:00

Waypoints: Greenbank Playing Fields/Park, Nutsford Vale Park, Annie Lees Park, Sunny Brow Park, Gore Brook Valley, Fallowfield Loop, Nelstrop Road North, “The secret Lake”, Highfield Country Park, Chapel Street Park

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train, There are no toilets at walk start. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)

This circular route will follow established muddy undulating paths and grassy green spaces; through an urban landscape of parks and side streets’ pavements.

There will be a high railway bridge that we will cross over.

The walk includes points of social historical interest on the route in Levenshulme/Gorton - such as: Grade II listed architecture; surprising connections to Napoleon Buonaparte’s chief diplomat, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show (Native American), Gorton’s first MP, the once world-famous steam locomotive factory/foundry, 1200 earthwork, Manchester’s first socialist woman Alderman and a failed attempt to kidnap the US President George Washington.
