Overview

The first in a series celebrating the rich literary history of Buckinghamshire and The Chilterns.
This walk starts in Marlow, looping through the small villages to the east, and then taking in the woodlands mentioned by TS Eliot, before dropping onto the Shakespeare way and then into the town itself, where we will walk down West Street, former home of Eliot, Percy Shelley, Thomas Love Peacock, and where Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly completed her novel ‘Frankenstein’. We’ll end at the Two Brewers, immortalised by Jerome K. Jerome in ‘Three Men in a Boat’.

Please bring a packed lunch, there will be an afternoon brewery tap stop.

Travel: Take the 10:08 from London Paddington, change at Maidenhead (arr. 10:30, dep. 10:34), arr. Marlow 10:57.

Please note short changeover time!

Alternately use Elizabeth Line services from central London to arrive at Maidenhead in time for the 10:34 to Marlow.
