West Mendip Walkers summer series easy to moderate 7 mile circular walk from Litton.
Leaving the pub car park we head north through the village and cross two fields before turning east to walk along the length of the picturesque Litton Reservoirs. Just before Coley we turn right and walk uphill across fields to Hinton Blewett then head north east and follow the Limestone Link around the back of Cameley. We then drop down to cross the road by the unspoilt 12th Century St James's church, which contains an unusual collection of wall paintings. Next we head south across fields to Hollow Marsh Nature Reserve, before heading back to Litton via Shortwood Common.
The walk is mainly on fields, wildflower meadows and good tracks with just one short section of quiet road. Four stiles. One hill near the beginning plus a couple of gentle climbs. Dog friendly, however there will be sheep and cattle and only a few opportunities for dogs to be off leads. This walk has a few gentle climbs.
On completion of the walk there is the option of remaining at The Litton pub (dog friendly) and enjoying each other's company further by participating in a meal at approximately 6pm.
Please could your intention to eat be registered with the walk leader by 29th July in order to confirm numbers to the pub management in advance. Menu and prices are available on The Litton website.
