Welcome the New Year with a favourite walk at Llansteffan, enjoying the best of the Tywi estuary views from the headland and castle.
We’ll stroll along the beach if the tide allows, around to Scott’s Bay, then up the muddy footpath on to Whalley Point. On a clear day we can look south to the Worm’s Head then west towards the Laugharne marshes.
We’ll turn inland along a farm track to complete a loop, then take a peep at the ancient St Antony’s well before heading uphill to the castle ruins - a great spot for a snack.
Returning to our cars we may find a pub or other refreshments, it’s hard to predict what may be open in January!
If the tide is in we’ll climb the steps up to the cliff walk. In any case there are a couple of uphill bits but not very steep.
There will certainly be mud and slippery sections, walking pole advisable.
The coast can be pretty chilly in the wind.
Dogs ok on short lead.
First car park, before the Green, seems to still be free so I plan to park there.
Toilet fees - I needed a credit card to pay 20p!
Please contact walkleader in good time beforehand to join this walk.
