Overview

Urban with green space.

This walk is circular, but there is the option to make it linear by taking a bus back to Leeds.

LEEDS TO KIRKSTALL (Walk approx 4.5 miles, then take a bus to Leeds)

From the Scarborough Taps we head through the Dark Arches to the canal.  Although the canal is flat, there is ascent at several locks.  There is also ascent at Armley Park and we go up the 161 Victorian steps.  The descent back to the canal is via Lantern Lane, which is steep at the top of the lane.  We will have a break at Kirkstall Abbey, and take additional breaks as required.

KIRKSTALL TO HEADINGLEY (Walk approx 6.5 miles, then take a bus to Leeds)

Those of us continuing the walk head uphill across fields, along roads, and uphill through woodland to reach Headingley.

HEADINGLEY TO LEEDS (Walk approx 9.5 miles.  The walk finishes at the Scarborough Taps)

Those of us continuing the walk head uphill along streets to reach Woodhouse Ridge, then walk through woodland and uphill to Delph Lane.  We head along streets to Woodhouse Moor, then through part of the park, before returning to Leeds via streets.
