Overview

This walk will take in 9 Wainwright of Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Stone Arthur, Great Rigg, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Dove Crag, High Pike, and Low Pike.

I am looking to drive to the walk on the morning and drive back the same day, if anyone is wanting to make a weekend of it, then please do so.  I will be doing this walk with some fellow runner from the Rothwell Harriers (which we are walking) and I am including this as a Take a Hike group walk.

Setting off from Rydal Road car park, Ambleside, LA22 9AN, which is typically 2hr to 2hr 40min drive from Leeds via M62 and M6. We leave Ambleside in a North Westerly direction to Scandale Bridge and pick up the footpath to Rydal Hall.  From here we start the climb to Nab Scar and Heron Pike, as we approach Great Rigg we will divert off and head West to Stone Arthur. From here we then turn North to pick up Great Rigg, and onto Fairfield which will be the highest point of the day 873 metres (2862 ft).  From Fairfield we head East to Hart Crag and onto Dove Crag, from Dove Cragg we then descend to High Pike and Low Pike and back into Ambleside.

After the walk we can call at one of the local pubs for food and a drink before setting of home.
