This is a moderately challenging walk. Around 8 miles, quite hilly and ideally at an average pace. See picture for details.
Meet at the main car park in Barley outside the cafe at 1015. The car park gets full quickly, allow plenty of time to find a space, and car share where possible.
We will leave Barley walking along a streamside, then left uphill through fields and descending to the village of Newchurch. We will then walk along the road a couple of miles to reach Saddlers farm, at which point we turn right and ascend steeply for around a mile. We come down overlooking Upper Ogden reservoir with great views of the valley. By the reservoir will make a good lunch stop with plenty of space to sit. We have to sit on the ground so bring a foam mat.
After lunch we ascend the Pendle hill for about a mile and cross the ridge to the trig point, a good place for a photo and break.
We then descend via the well trodden steps, and at the bottom of the hill is a snack van for refreshments.
We walk through road and fields to the forest trail to do a circular woods walk and view the sculptures, then back on ourselves and down the road to Barley.
There are two pubs in Barley where we could have a drink or something to eat to refuel for the long drive home.
