We will all head down to the Spirit of Scotland statue at the start of the walk, where we join the other group for a full group photo to commemorate the 35th anniversary of our club.
The main group will head off and the short walk group can then start a leisurely walk up to the foothill of Loudoun Hill. There is one tricky stile to cross at the river but assistance will be given (and a footstool provided!). We then cross a wooden bridge to take the path up to the main track to Darvel. We turn right to pick up a path to the lower slopes of the Hill. This will be taken at a GENTLE PACE across tufted grassy area until we join the last short stretch into the woodland. This path is currently very muddy but flat. We can carry along this to find a moss covered wall to sit for a snack/drink and enjoy the views over to Whitelees windfarm.
We then continue downhill to the river, re-cross the stile and return to the cars on a different uphill path.
Poles are essential on this walk. Boots or strong walking shoes are required.
