Tram-based walk
Leader: Mary, meeting at Walk Start
Meet Point: The Green/outside the BBC studio building, Media City, Salford Quays.
Transport to Walk Start: Tram every 12 minutes from Manchester City Centre. The last tram that will get you there prior to the start time is the 13:24 from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Eccles).
Suggested Ticket: Metrolink 1-Day Off Peak Travelcard for Zones 1-2 for £3.50.
Walk Start: The Green/outside The BBC’s studio building, Media City, Salford Quays at 14:00.
Waypoints: Erie Basin, The Lowry Theatre, Ontario Basin, Ordsall Park, Ordsall Hall, Manchester Ship Canal, Clipper Quay, Old Trafford Bridge, Imperial War Museum North.
Return Services: Trams every 12 minutes to Manchester City Centre.
Extra: Toilets near Walk Start at the Lowry Theatre near the BBC studios - please arrive early if you wish to use these. No toilets en route. There will be a chance to enjoy a drink together afterwards in one of the bars or cafes at Salford Quays.

This is an easy, step-free afternoon ‘walk for all’. It is a level, circular route that includes an easy section of GM Ringway – Greater Manchester’s walking trail – as well as other local paths.
Highlights of the walk, which is also suitable for new or returning walkers and wheelchair users include:
- Virtually all of the Salford Quays waterfront
- The green oasis of Ordsall Park
- The modern architecture of Imperial War Museum North and MediaCity UK
- Ordsall Hall, a Tudor manor house and gardens in the heart of Salford.
