Blow away the seasonal cobwebs with our annual New Year walk to the Three Brethren cairns above Selkirk.
We walk to the Corby Linn car park and climbing by the forestry track to the disused reservoir. There will be an option to climb to Tibby Tamson's grave, before resuming the ascent to the 3 Brethren cairns, which offer extensive views in all directions.
We return by the Southern Upland Way, branching off it to skirt Peat Law and pass beneath Linglie Hill, eventually crossing Linglie Burn into fields which take us to Souter's plantation, high above Selkirk. We then find our way through fields back to the cars.
Walkers should be equipped for hill walking. There will be a lunch stop and drinks stops as required. Note that a cafe has been open in Selkirk on New Year's days in recent years.
Circular walk, grade B, moderate. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
