We start at Fourteen Locks on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal which was an ingenious cascade of locks designed to navigate a drop of 169ft in just half-a-mile. We then head towards the Sirhowy Valley and walk uphill, once at the top take time to look back at the Views to the North. .We then head towards the nature reserve and Alteryn Woods, before dropping back down and crossing the canal heading towards Tredegar Park Golf Club, Mescoed Mawr and Newport Golf Club before rejoining the canal back to the start.

Packed lunch if you wish or food can be purchased at the Dadford Tearoom at the Fourteen Locks Canal Centre there is seating for those wishing to take a packed lunch.
Dogs Welcome but will need to be kept on leads when around live stock. The stiles are not very dog friendly so be prepared to lift them over.
