A lovely walk along some of the quieter paths of the Pentlands, which takes us into the hills via Bavelaw Marsh and along the Red Road before turning off to a gradual ascent of Green Law and Spittal Hill. From here we can enjoy excellent long-distance views across Edinburgh, the Forth and as far as the Ochils on a clear day. The route then descends past North Esk Reservoir and the Bore Stane with a further gentle climb before the path leads us back down to the car park.
Mainly grassy paths, with a short section of tarmac and stone paths to start and one steep gravel descent to the reservoir. Some sections likely to be muddy after wet weather. Walking boots & poles recommended. Toilet facilities at Threipmuir car park may or may not be open.
It is essential to contact the walk leader, Alison Cameron, to book a place on this walk (WhatsApp preferred). If you require car sharing from Livingston please contact Natalie Corner on 07780 750003.
The walk leader will be at the start point, not at the meeting point.
