The walk starts from the car park at Broughton Village Community Hall and is a circular walk taking in Trahenna Hill. At first the route follows the John Buchan Way towards the Broughton Heights. After about 1.5 miles we will turn off and climb steeply up to Hammer Head hill (513m) with its grassy top marked by a large cairn. Following along the ridge line the walk heads via Grade Yade to Trahenna Hill (549m) where there is a more extensive plateau and great views. Onwards the path heads down along a long southerly and then southeasterly shoulder via Dreva hill and then towards Dreva Craig Hillfort. From here the route drops down to a former train line which runs back towards Broughton village.
Mainly farm tracks and grassy hill tracks/path boggy in places. The section at Dreva Craig requires crossing a cattle field which can be very muddy.
Walk grade: Moderate to strenuous
For car sharing meet at Livigston North Train Station at 7:50hrs - departure at 8am.
