A circular walk of 12.4 miles exploring the Pang Valley, local villages and mixed woodland. From the car park, we initially head south before turning east, heading towards Bradfield. We visit the Monastic ponds and use some of the newly established Wincombe Way across Bucklebury Common to Chapel Row, before dropping downhill to Stanford Dingley for a coffee stop. We then follow the course of the River Pang into Bradfield, alongside the river and the college grounds, before turning north across farmland and into woodland, to reach Rushall Farm, where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we head east passing through Hangers Copse, across farmland and into Highwood Copse, before turning south to Bucklebury village and back to the Farm Park.
There are several gates and five stiles, one in very poor repair requiring care to cross. There is approx.300m/1000ft of ascent most of which is fairly gradual. The going underfoot is generally good, however there are three stretches of woodland that could be very muddy and slippery, one slightly uphill where care will be required. The are short road sections through the villages of Stanford Dingley, Bradfield and Bucklebury.
Please bring refreshments for the day.
This walk in limited to 16, so please use the link to book your place before 6.00pm on Wednesday 3rd December.
