From the car park we descend to the Peak Forest Canal which we follow to Disley. After crossing the busy A6 we head to Cock Head Farm then on through Lyme Park, passing the Parkgate entrance, and follow the North Cheshire Way to Platt Wood and then on to the Macclesfield Canal. At Hawk Green we leave the canal and ascend through the village back to the cars. Risk assessment: There are two lengthy stretches on canal towpaths which are also used by cyclists, and a crossing of the busy A6 at a controlled crossing. Some walking on country lanes with passing local traffic and possible farm machinery. There may be livestock in some fields. There are some stiles which are in reasonable condition. Parts of the towpath may be slippery after wet weather, and stretches of some paths may have trip hazards.
