Overview

This leisurely walk visits the 12 winter themed penguin sculptures on parade throughout Staines centre. The walk starts outside the Wheatsheaf and Pigeon pub on the corner of Penton Road and Wheatsheaf Lane, street parking is available on Penton Road but car sharing is recommended. We walk by the river into town seeing 3 penguins before walking through the Lammas and across the road to Church Lammas for a walk around the lakes (might be muddy). There's a coffee stop at The George pub before walking through Staines penguin spotting on the way to the railway station to see the final penguin, after which we walk through Knowle Green and Commercial Road before returning to the starting point. If anyone wants to eat at the pub please make your own arrangements. This walk is jointly led by Linda Thrift (07766 942126) and Joy Johnson (07814 153396). Please text either leader by 7pm the evening before if you would like to come along.
