Join me on a circular walk starting at Petts Wood, a 150-acre semi-ancient woodland with diverse native and non-native trees under National Trust care since 1957. Our route then encircles the varied landscapes of Scadbury Park Local Nature Reserve, featuring ancient woods, meadows, and ponds, and takes in the remnants of the 13th-century moated Scadbury Manor, once the Walsingham family's estate. Our lunch stop is in Chislehurst with picnic, pub (drinks only), or café options. Thanks to SWC for walk details.
This is a joint walk with the Richmond group.
Meeting point: turn right at the top of the exit stairs and meet at bottom of the next stairs.
Trains: either Charing Cross 10:31, calling at Waterloo East 10.35, London Bridge 10.40, arriving Petts Wood 11.07 or Victoria 10:27, arriving Petts Wood 11.04.
Recce update:The walk had more hills than I expected, so I have changed it to a moderate walk. Has 2 drop-out points.
There were a number of cafes/restaurants at our lunch break, but most are not set-up to serve in the time available. I would recommend bringing food with you.
