Overview

We start with the riverside at Putney and finish along the riverside at Richmond. On the way will take in Putney Common, Putney Heath, Wimbledon Common, Richmond Park and Ham Common.

The walk will encompass riverside, brookside, common land, parkland, lakeside and some suburban walking.

We may or may not see any deer but there should be ducks.

Packed lunch is recommended however snacks and hot drinks are available at the lunch stop.

Lavatory facilities are available at an hour into the walk on Wimbledon Common and at the lunch stop

Drop out points with bus connections are available at Robin Hood Gate in the morning and after lunch.

There might be muddy bits on Wimbledon Common but otherwise the route has been chosen to be reasonable underfoot.

No booking required.

No dogs.

Walking shoes should be fine.

Train:

Take the 10.03 train from London Waterloo, 10.07 at Vauxhall, 10.13 at Clapham Junction arrives at Putney (Zone 2) at 10.16. 10 minute walk down the High Street to St Mary’s Church.

Or District Line to Putney Bridge Station. 10 minute walk across East side of Putney Bridge to St Mary’s Church..

Finish is at Richmond Station (Zone 4) from where there are trains to London Waterloo, Vauxhall and Clapham Junction, Mildmay line Overground to Willesden Junction and Stratford and District line to Earls Court, Edgware Road, The City and beyond.
