This is a hilly hike with an ascent of 405 meters (1329 feet). We start with a steep ascent along a short section of the North Downs Way before levelling off for other paths taking us through lovely woods to Magpie Bottom. We traverse fields and more woods to reach Shoreham which is an exit point as well as our lunch stop. Please bring a packed lunch. There is limited fixed seating at the lunch stop.
After lunch we head uphill above Shoreham for views of the Darent Valley. Our trail takes us through Meanfield Wood and Pilot Wood; thereafter descending to Robins Wood with a return to Otford via the Darent Vally River trail. Some paths are usually muddy after rainfall.
This walk presents an abundance of outstanding views and a tapestry of autumn colours.
We will be walking at a brisk pace.
