Overview

A walk though areas that were once the home to mining, both open cast and underground but have now been restored to provide lakes, woodland and pathways.  Leaving from Moira Furnace we'll take in part of Willesley woods before accessing the Hicks Lodge site.  Lunch stop will be at the cafe at Hicks Lodge where there is plenty of seating, toilets and you can purchase a hot drink or food if you wish.  We'll be exploring some of the lesser used 'off piste' area on Hicks Lodge before returning to our start point. About 4 stiles, a mix of grass/field paths and hard surface cycle/pedestrian paths.
