The walk explores several lakes, river and canal either side of Rickmansworth Aquadrome. A 6 mile morning loop involves walking alongside a few lakes, maybe spotting the bird life, later rising up the fields to Hill End and over Juniper Hill skirting the golf course, descending back to the Aquadrome lakeside Cafe area for picnic lunch, with use of cafe for drinks and toilets. Afternoon loop walk of approx. 4 miles is on the east side of the Aquadrome, following the Ebury Way, passing more lakes, to cross Croxley Common Moor, returning along the GU Canal back to Rickmansworth Station.
UPDATE DUE TO FLOODING IN AREA
Due to the wet weather over recent weeks flooding has affected some parts of the lakeside paths and canal towpath around Rickmansworth Aquadrome. Consequently, the first part of the morning lakes walk has been adjusted to avoid the flooded areas, so unable to loop round most lakes. The rest of the route remains the same. However, walkers attending this walk need to wear strong walking boots as will possibly need to walk through a few long shallow puddles along the towpath, plus a few wet and muddy spots in the fields. A walking pole would be useful as well.
