Overview

A vigorous and bracing walk starting from Virginia Wolfes house in Rodmell we follow the river Ouse to Lewes ( If time permits might walk through the ruins of one  of the largest monastery in the country)  From Lewes follow the river Cockshut to Kingston.

Then climb up onto the South Downs ( bring your poles )and be rewarded with magnificent views before returning to Rodmell. We cross the Meridian line on the way down.

Driving to Rodmell come via A27 Kingston turn off and the Ashcombe hollow . Or via Newhaven and Piddinghoe road.  Note: There is No access to Rodmell from the A26.

There maybe toilets en route at Lewes.

Park in The Street where possible or in Mill Lane opposite. The National Trust car park is not advisable to use. Meet outside Monks House near the bottom of the Street.
