Overview

PRE-BOOKING WITH WALK LEADER IS ESSENTIAL:

Please book by email: paulrowen3@hotmail.com

This circular walk starts from the car park at RSPB Old Moor. It consists of well maintained tracks throughout; however a very short section of path at Adwick Washlands was under about 1.5” of water at the time of the recee, but this was still easily passable.

The walk is very flat with a total ascent of 162 ft for the whole route. There is a little pavement walking in Bolton on Dearne on minor roads.

From RSPB Old Moor car park we walk to Manvers Lake where there are toilets and a cafe/shops where refreshments may be purchased. From here we pickup and follow the River Dearne. After approximately 2.5 miles we turn into RSPB Adwick Washlands where there is plentiful wildlife on the lakes either side of the path. On reaching Bolton on Dearne we pick up the River Dearne again back to Manvers and the path back to RSPB Old Moor.

Binoculars if you have a pair are essential for this walk.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a short fixed lead.
