Overview

From Ryarsh we head up to the North Downs Way and follow the North Downs Way, before descending down to Paddlesworth and the 900-year-old Pilgrim Church of St. Benedict. For centuries, Pilgrims passed the church on their way to the Medway, crossing from Snodland to Burham on their way to Canterbury. In 1678 it was abandoned and for 250 years was unused for religious purposes. It is made up of two simple rooms - a chancel and nave and it still has the aura of a Norman place of prayer.  From here we return across farmland back to Ryarsh.
