We are the Medway Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Assistance dogs only. Bring a packed lunch as there are many seats in Whatman Park. The walk is graded as moderate only with the extension, otherwise it is leisurely. The Malta Inn offers refreshments and there is also a small cafe for coffee or ice cream.
Terrain: Predominantly flat with no stiles. We walk to Tovil via Oakwood Park, Maidstone and then follow the River Medway via Whatman Park to Allington lock. We will see seven bridges along the river and pass points of interest such at Allington Castle and the marina. The optional extension to Aylesford is similar terrain and we cross over the well-known Aylesford bridge.
Park half-a-mile down Castle Road on the right just past the second railway bridge. Do not park before this to the left as that is the Community Association's CP. Nearest post code: ME160TT TQ748576.
