Overview

Join us on this delightful walk exploring the woodlands, fields and ponds of the Ampleforth Abbey Estate.

From Gilling, we will walk through woodland to Piper Hill Plantation and Yearsley Moor, before coming down to the Fish Ponds for lunch. In the afternoon, we return via Ampleforth village and the College grounds.

It's a scenic walk on good paths and forest tracks, though there are some muddy places. Bring boots and waterproofs. It's a moderate walk with no steep ascents, a few stiles and 2 foot bridges.
