Overview

Why not join Ryedale Ramblers for a mid autumn walk from Hawnby Church with wonderful views across Rye Dale and Thorodale as well as the Vale of York to the Dales along the way (all subject to weather).

We begin by crossing the River Rye via a Footbridge and ascend to Sunnybank Farm then past High Buildings across Dale Town Common and Little Moor to reach the Cleveland Way where the road from Kepwick crosses it.  We follow the Cleveland Way northwards for a short distance leaving it to cross Arden Great Moor and on to Harker Yates Ridge.  Descending from the Ridge we go through North Moor Wood to Nuns’ Well then descend to Arden Hall.  Having passed the Hall we climb up to Coomb Hill House (ruin) then walk through Nags Head Wood, descend to Church Bridge over the River Rye which we cross and return to our cars.
