From our meeting place, we walk to the city centre, and follow the River Avon along the new riverside path to the village of Stratford sub castle. We ascend to Old Sarum, the location of the original town of Salisbury, starting as an Iron Age hillfort, through Roman times and later as a Medieval Royal Castle and site of the original Cathedral. From Old Sarum, we pick up The Sarsen Way and walk to Little Durnford, through the grounds of Little Durnford Manor, home of Lord and Lady Chichester, and on to Lower Woodford. We return to our starting point via Castle Park and the Community Farm. Tea and cake possible at the end of the walk! Bring lunch.
